About

Sousa Domingos is a Mozambican filmmaker, cinematographer, and producer based in Maputo. Working in the industry since 2013, he has built a body of work across short films, observational documentaries, and commercial productions — with a parallel practice in documentary photography and photojournalism that draws from the same instinct: place, character, moment.

As a producer, his most recent credit is The Prophet, directed by Ique Langa, which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2026 after participating in Final Cut in Venice, and continues to travel internationally. His short-film credits include O Moderno and A Voz de um Pincel.

He has participated in the Doha Film Institute Producers Lab — part of an ongoing commitment to learning, collaboration, and growing alongside the industry he wants to help build.

In Maputo, he founded Better Audiovisual to bring story-led production capability to the region — anchoring his work in films, commercials, and documentaries from the country and the wider continent.

Alongside the company, he has been developing Future Frames for several years — a philanthropic initiative dedicated to knowledge transfer in cinema and the arts in Mozambique, focused on supporting the next generation of filmmakers and storytellers from the country.
